Farmers' Market Every Thursday

Keeney Memorial Cultural Center

Bringing back Wethersfield's agricultural history, again this year there will be a weekly Farmers' Market every Thursday. The event has been coordinated by a small group of local residents and is sponsored by Wethersfield Historical Society. Farmers and vendors from Wethersfield as well as neighboring towns have been recruited to offer Wethersfield residents fresh locally grown produce, eggs, cheeses, jams, jellies, honey, organic crafts and more!

Nature Center on WFSB's Better Connecticut

"Better Connecticut," a feature program of WFSB Hartford Channel 3, visited the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center recently to meet Thomas, the center's African Gray Parrot. All week the show is introducing viewers to things children and families can do during the upcoming February school vacation. The Nature Center's "Adventures in Winter" camp offers half and full day programs daily for grades K-7, and this year Thomas will help provide a virtual tour of Africa. The segment aired on Monday, February 8.

Additional Plastics Accepted for Recycling

Effective May 1st, residents of Wethersfield and other towns whose recyclables go to the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority's Mid-Connecticut Project will be able to recycle all plastic food and beverage containers, not just those made from No. 1 and No. 2 plastics.

Two recent developments made this expansion of CRRA's recycling program possible:

Community Center Chosen as Site of Solar Panel Installation

The Town of Wethersfield Clean Energy Committee has announced that the Pitkin Community Center will be the site where the solar photovoltaic system received from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund will be installed. The town received it as a result of Wethersfield households and businesses participating in the CT Clean Energy Communities Program.
