This immersive family-friendly experience entices families to seek out and to identify larger-than-life puppet pollinators scattered on-site. Provided with their own habitat-map and “life list” to guide their search\, visitors wander through Wethersfield Estate & Garden – learning to spot Hudson Valley bees\, butterflies\, beetles hidden among trees\, and gardens. Those so inclined can create their own pollinator plants to carry with them and lure curious pollinators en route. The Great Pollinator Ramble highlights 10 local species of pollinator\, in the form of 20 articulated puppets\, flying overhead with 5-foot wingspans. Processional Arts Workshop (PAW)\, led by Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles. The recipient of numerous awards\, they have presented at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors\, the High Line\, Socrates Sculpture Park\, Brooklyn Botanic Garden\, and Miami’s Vizcaya Museum.  \nRain Date: June 4\, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:What’s Out There Weekend (WOTW) Rhinebeck and the Mid-Hudson Valley will illuminate the unique landscape legacy and local character of the region evidenced by its publicly accessible parks\, estates\, gardens\, cemeteries\, campuses\, and neighborhoods. Linked by the tidal Hudson River\, the region long supported the cultural lifeways of the native Lenni Lenape peoples up until the Revolutionary War. The Mid-Hudson Valley boasts a range of natural resources\, and has provided inspiration to myriad designers\, artists\, and writers over two centuries. Its many extant estates\, historic sites\, public parks and gardens\, and cultural institutions reflect the distinct regional design tradition pioneered by innovators such as Andrew Jackson Downing\, Alexander Jackson Davis\, and André Parmentier. \nWorking in collaboration with local partners\, TCLF will make visible and instill value in the places that make the region unique\, and engage the public to promote their sustained stewardship. WOTW Rhinebeck and the Mid-Hudson Valley will engage a large and diverse audience (typically 1\,000+)\, offering two days of free\, expert-led tours of 25 to 30 sites\, encouraging participants to discover the little-known design history of places they may pass every day. \nWOTW will be visiting Wethersfield Estate & Garden on Sunday\, October 1\, 2023 at 11a with tour guide\, Toshi Yano\, Wethersfield consultant and former Director of Horticulture. Toshi was invaluable in revitalizing Wethersfield Estate & Garden from 2019 to 2022.

DESCRIPTION:Wethersfield is pleased to offer an interactive children and family program designed for ages 3-8 (but all ages are welcome) at the historic Wethersfield Estate and Garden. Each week children\, accompanied by a caregiver (this is not a drop off program)\, will explore a different part of the Wethersfield Estate\, followed by a hands-on activity\, led by educate Allison Toepp. \nWeek 1 is all about investigation! Wethersfield has pastures for grazing\, plants that feed animals\, plants that feed people\, and plants that feed each other. Our trees act as homes to plants\, insects\, animals and fungi. Our wetlands and ponds are home to plants and animals too! Students will learn to see the “big picture” and end the session by making by a colorful map to take home. \n			\n				CLICK TO REGISTER

DESCRIPTION:Wethersfield Estate & Garden and the Dutchess Land Conservancy have partnered for a Garden and Woods Walk on Friday\, July 19\, 2024. The walk will be taking place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Join Wethersfield Head Gardener\, Jeff Lynch\, and DLC Director of Education\, Julie Hart\, as they take you on a stroll along the paths of the formal gardens of Wethersfield\, and then through the verdant forests of the Wilderness Walk. Along the way\, we’ll explore the great diversity of plant and tree species\, and talk about ways that we can all do our part to keep our gardens and woods healthy and thriving. \nIf tickets are not available\, email info@wethersfield.org to be placed on a waiting list. \nAll participants are required to sign the Wethersfield property waiver. \n			\n				REGISTER

DESCRIPTION:Celebrating a 20+ year artistic collaboration\, Grammy-nominated Metropolis Ensemble and composer/pianist Timo Andres present an intimate evening of solo piano works inspired by Andres’ recent Carnegie Hall debut of quintessentially varied American music including delicate piano masterpieces by Duke Ellington\, the last of Philip Glass’s 20 piano etudes\, and Frederic Rzewski’s boisterous Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues. \nAlso featured will be Andres new work Fiddlehead (2024 Carnegie Hall commission)\, highlighting Andres’s “textural imagination and ear for piquant harmony” (The Guardian)\, and a New York premiere by the inventive Gabriella Smith. \n“The question of what constitutes ‘Americanness’ in art has long interested me. It was little more than 100 years ago that composers started writing music that sounded ‘American\,’ transcending the Eurocentric pastiches of earlier efforts. It’s a recent enough occurrence that one can still imagine different paths composers could’ve taken\, could still take. These works represent\, to me\, the best qualities in American music.” -Timo Andres \nThis program was generously underwritten by an Anonymous Donor and the Soo & Carolina Kim Foundation. \nReceptions begins at 4:00 PM\nDoors close at 4:45 PM\, recital begins promptly at 5:00 PM
