The trails are accessible to hikers during daylight hours from April 28 through November 14, except during the following events:

The trails remain open when the Millbrook Hunt is at Wethersfield or in the vicinity. However, as you plan your hike please be aware that the Millbrook Hunt will be in the area the following mornings:

Regulations for Use of Trails


  • The trail participant must sign the Wethersfield Hiking Waiver (once per year). Hiking Waivers can be signed online here.  Paper waivers are also available at the trailhead. 

  • Please observe a carry in / carry out policy.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  • No smoking

  • No bicycle riding allowed

  •  The property closes at dusk.

  • Please stay on the designated trails. 

  • Dogs are permitted for hikers but must ALWAYS be leashed. Dogs are NOT permitted in the Gardens or during organized equestrian events.

Wethersfield is privately maintained by the Wethersfield Foundation, and relies on your generosity and support to conserve the estate and make its gardens and grounds available for public use.

With a focus on restoration, Friends of Wethersfield funds conservation projects that maintain the estate, gardens, and grounds in accordance with their original aesthetic splendor.

The garden and trails are closed for the season.
