Storm Update: Wethersfield to Reopen July 4
JULY 2 STORM UPDATE: Wethersfield Reopens This Weekend
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we recover from the severe storm that impacted Wethersfield on June 19. Cleanup efforts have been extensive, and we are deeply grateful for the tireless work of our crews and the outpouring of support from our community.
Garden: We are pleased to share that the Wethersfield Garden will reopen this weekend, beginning Friday, July 4 at 10 AM.
Trails: The Red Trail will open Friday, July 4, and the Blue Trail will open Saturday, July 5. While passable, you proceed at your own risk. Our trails are not fully groomed, so please use caution, follow all posted signs, and respect the closures. Portions of the trail system with more extensive damage will remain closed as restoration continues.
House Tours: House tours scheduled for Saturday will take place as planned, and spots are still available. If you would like to join, you can sign up here.
As always, visitors must have a membership or a day pass and must sign a waiver.
The cost of engaging professional recovery teams for several weeks has placed an unexpected financial strain on Wethersfield. If you feel moved to contribute to our cleanup and restoration efforts, your support—of any amount—will make a meaningful impact and is deeply appreciated.
Thank you again for your understanding and generosity. We look forward to welcoming you back to Wethersfield.
JUNE 19TH STORM UPDATE: Gardens and Trails Remain Closed Until Safely Cleared
The entire Wethersfield Estate experienced severe and unprecedented storm damage, resulting in the loss of hundreds of mature trees and more. Thankfully, no one was harmed during the event.
To manage the significant storm aftermath, Wethersfield has engaged specialized contractors to support the extensive post-storm clean-up effort so that we can safely re-open as soon as possible. Until then, we ask that you refrain from visiting the property until we announce that the trails, roads and garden are safe to return to. We will remain entirely closed to the public through this weekend, and hope to partially re-open after the July 4 holiday. We will keep you posted on when it is safe to return to Wethersfield and where it is safe to do so. The Public’s safety is paramount to us all at Wethersfield.
We are deeply grateful for the many generous offers of volunteer help from our community in wake of the storm. While we must postpone volunteer involvement until we can ensure everyone’s safety on the grounds, we are truly moved by your outpouring of support and willingness to lend a hand. Thank you for this.
In the meantime, the unplanned cost of engaging professional recovery teams over several weeks represents a significant and unforeseen financial burden. If you feel moved to contribute towards this critical clean-up and restoration effort, your support will be received with heartfelt thanks and will make a meaningful difference in helping Wethersfield recover. Every little bit helps.
We are deeply grateful to the Wethersfield Staff and to all the outside crews working tirelessly to reopen Wethersfield for your pleasure.
We will continue to post updates on our website.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
