COVID-19 Trail Updates and Procedures:
The trails will open Friday, May 15 for horseback riding, carriage driving and  hiking. 
As a gift to the community, we are waiving the hiking fee so that during these trying times all can enjoy the serenity of the Wethersfield trails. Hikers only need to sign our online waiver to use the trails.
Standard fees apply for equestrian use. Purchase your equestrian pass and sign your waiver here.
Important: To minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, restrooms will not be available at the trailhead and all transactions must take place online. Paper waivers and payment options will not be available on-site. Since cellular service is not reliable on the estate, please prepay and sign your waiver before your arrival.
Please adhere to these guidelines:
  • Keep at least six feet of distance between you and others

  • Wear a mask when social distancing is not possible

  • Avoid close contact

  • Wash hands often, or use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available

  • Avoid crowds or groups

  • The trail participant must sign the appropriate waiver before using the trails (once per year). 

  • Please observe a carry in / carry out policy.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  • No smoking.

  • No bicycle riding allowed.

  • The property closes at dusk.

  • Please stay on the designated trails. 

  • Dogs are permitted for hikers but must ALWAYS be leashed. Dogs are NOT permitted in the Gardens or during organized equestrian events. 

Regulations for Horseback Riding and Carriage Driving
  • ASTM/SEI Certified riding helmets are required for all riders and carriage drivers.

  • Horses must always be attended or securely tied to their trailer.

  • Riding and driving are not permitted near the Main House, Gardens, Stables and Horse pastures (except for passing on Pugsley Hill Road), unless following a marked trail during an organized event.

Online Payment
  • Click the button below to purchase your trail pass. 

  • IMPORTANT: your pass is not valid until the waiver has been signed. ALL trail participants are required to sign a waiver. Please ensure that all family members associated with the purchase of a family pass have signed the waiver.

  • Print and place your receipt on your windshield as proof of purchase. Be prepared to show proof of having signed the waiver.

  • Day Passes are valid for one-time use within 3 days of purchase. (available for purchase when the trails open).

Map & Directions

From north or south on the Taconic State Parkway, take the exit to US44/Poughkeepsie/Millbrook. Turn east on the Route 44 toward Millbrook. Continue 10.9 miles on 44 east to Bangall Amenia Rd (County Route 86). Turn left on Bangall Amenia Rd and continue for 2.4 miles. Turn right onto Pugsley Hill Rd and drive for 1.0 miles to the trail entrance on left. Please park at the Trail Head near the red pole barn.

The trails are open daily from dawn to dusk.

The garden is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 5 PM.
